Celebrating Toronto as the 3rd largest ICT cluster in North America, after Silicon Valley and New York, TorontoTechWeek brings the GTA technology community together to facilitate connections among industry stakeholders and to foster the sharing of knowledge, challenges, and best practices.

Initially launched in 2007 by the City of Toronto’s ICT Advisory Committee, this year’s TorontoTechWeek is organized by the TorontoTechWeek Association, chaired by Dave Forde. Core programs will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, starting with a special kick-off presentation by Mayor David Miller, and featuring a special ‘state-of-the-nation’ panel discussion on the key issues facing the technology industry today. Dynamic, inspiring keynotes and a host of other top-notch speakers, all leading experts in their fields follow throughout the week. In addition, in and around the City, other organizations are also hosting events—demonstrating the strength, and promoting the growth, of Toronto’s technology industry.

Tying TorontoTechWeek together are themes of cleantech and the greening of it; optimizing it and business operations; and the future of technology, specifically Web 2.0. Six separate programs are available.

exDMR Alumni directory is now over 500 strong. 
Our 500th entry into the site was Benoit Le Nabec of Montreal - congrats.
 
Since March, 2003 we have more than doubled in numbers.

June 16, 2005

This year was the first year we auctioned off a beloved DMR Building print.  These are becoming rare and a treasured keepsake. 
This year's lucky winner was PAUL WALSH with a generous bid of $100.  Thanks Paul. 
Money raised for the auction will be used to maintain the Alumni website.

Hope to see you all next year in June, 2006.

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL ALUMNI REUNION WAS HELD AT
Wayne Gretzky's Oasis Patio!

TURNOUT WAS GREAT - Some people dating back to the late 70's showed up.
 
Alumni Reunion will now be held once a year - so don't miss out

Kathryn Ward was DMR Office Manager in Edmonton in the late 80’s and President of the U.S. Division of DMR for much of the 90’s and early 2000’s.  She died March, 2003 after an eight month battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, also known as ALS.

Hike 4 ALS was formed as a tribute to Kathryn and is dedicated to helping to find a cure to the disease.  On June 5^th, hikes will be held across the U.S. and Canada to help increase awareness of the disease and to raise contributions for a cure.

You can help in several ways:

1. Register for one of the hikes and raise contributions. If there’s not a hike scheduled this year for you city, register for a virtual hike, raise contributions, hike on your favorite local trail, and receive the Hike 4 ALS goody bag and t-shirt.
2. Contribute to helping find a cure.
3. Let your friends, family, and colleagues know about the event.
4. Share the attached Hiking Club flyer with hiking clubs in your city.
5. Invite teachers and principals of various schools in your city to help students learn the meaning of social responsibility by direct action.  Share the attached Schools program document with them.
6. There’s a team doing a 21 day trek to Mount Everest basecamp in Nepal starting March 31^st as a tribute to all ALS patients.  Support the team with a contribution.
